We interrupt this Brainwashing broadcast with breaking news that 50 year old Miguel Angel Jimenez has just won the Open De Espana, now sits 5th on the Race To Dubai and is within touching distance of making the Ryder Cup Team all of which has been built on a thorough and rigorous regime of smoking sticks of dynamite, swigging back gallons of Rioja, putting the "olutely no chance" into Abs and who`s idea of a workout is carrying a shopping basket full of wine and Cuban "stogies" to the checkout instead of pushing a trolley!
Yes, the wiley old "Mechanic" from Malaga is re-writing the form book again! He`s like the Tour`s Messiah, swapping Water in for Wine and instead of turning Bread into Fishes he`s turning Birdies into Dough! And if we can`t get a Scotsman into the Team bound for Gleneagles in September then I think we`d all be delighted to support Jimmy Ness as our adopted Scot for the week! After all he`s got perfect hair for under a "See You Jime"nes Hat!
These next few months on both Tours will play a big part in shaping both Teams for the September Showpiece with 2 Majors and many World Golf Championships coming thick and fast in June & July. Whilst this week down at Wentworth the European Tours flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship gets underway. It has assembled probably one of the strongest fields out with the World Championship events with many of Europe`s top players turning up. The course looks amazing this year and the weather is meant to be equally as good. Here are a few "Inside The Ropes" pictures for you that I got from Peter Whitefords Coach.
Eastwoods Flagship event was also on the agenda this week as qualifying for the Club Championship continued with the 2nd Round Qualifier incorporated into the May Medal. The weather again wasn`t particularly kind and that reflected in the scoring which saw the CSS go up again for about the 3rd time this year. Very unusual for Eastwood.
Frank Taggart 72(3) - 69 was the low man of the day as he posted the best Scratch Score to claim 1st place in Division 1 which left him 1 stroke clear of Defending Champion, Gavin Cochrane 74(4) - 70. Young Ibrahim Hussain 78(7) - 71 took 3rd despite a terrible 8, 5 start and has now had a handicap reduction in every Medal round he has played since he started his Coaching & Development Plan with me this season. As Ibby is still a Junior and ineligible that meant 3rd place in the Sweep on Saturday went to Gavin Campbell 78(7) - 71 who also recently came to me for a lesson as he had been struggling with his game, so nice to see some progress and financial return on his investment.
Division 2 saw Raymond Ross 86(16) - 70 lead the way. He finished 1 clear of Marc Rossi 85(14) - 71 who is also getting some good return on his Pre Season instruction and his newly fitted Irons. Martin Peacock 85(14) - 71 was the man who had to settle for 3rd on the countback.
The Lowest Score of the day came in Division 3 with Graham Hutcheon 86(18) - 68 laying claim to that. He edged out another of my pupils getting some good results following our work together. Keith Robb 88(19) - 69 has now reduced his handicap by a stroke and won over £40 following 2 Sessions with myself. Allan Lang 92(20) - 72 was the best of the rest having finished 3 shots further back.
These scores also counted towards Round 3 of the Cappro Cup Qualifying. Here's how the standings look after the May medal.
The scoring the previous Thursday in the Mid Week Medal was markedly better. In Division 1 Greg Walkers 78(12) - 66 was the best by 2 strokes from Graeme Smyth 76(8) - 68 who is another getting some return and good form from his newly fitted irons and 3 wood. David March 74(5) - 69 rediscovered his early season form to take 3rd.
Division 2 saw similar scoring with Iain King Snr 90(24) - 66 leading the way followed by Bill Bonellie 85(16) - 69in 2nd on the countback from Dougie Jamieson 88(19) - 69
It was also great to see our Teams ALL have good results last week with all the Male Teams recording Wins. The Gents Brand Putter got off the mark with a 4 ½ - 3 ½ home win V Cowglen, whilst at the reverse fixture the Over 50`s FIT League Team won 2 - 1. The best result however was from the Juniors who pulled off a great 3 ½ - 2 ½ win away to Fereneze to stay perched at the top of the League.
Someone else who I`m sure is on top of the world is Linda Hay who was the lucky winner in my Penny Prize Draw for a Motocaddy S3 Trolley. Linda`s ticket which cost her a whopping £1.59 was first out the hat (well it was a metal fruit bowl actually!) and she is now the proud owner of a shiny new Motocaddy Digital Trolley!
The sale of tickets wasn`t as popular as I`d hoped so unfortunately I couldn`t afford to put more prizes in how
ever I did draw out FIFTY Consolation Winners (bit of an oxymoron there I know!) who all receive a £20 OFF Discount Card that can be used on purchases through my "Click & Collect" Online service.

Linda was so excited to win the Trolley that she even gave me a hug! But it seems that Linda has lots of reasons to be on a high right now (and hug me for that matter!) as she has just had 2 runners up places here at Eastwood and a 1st place at East Ren following a Lesson she had with me 3 weeks ago!! So with her new go faster wheels they`ll be no stopping her now!!
