Soooo...1 week into 2017, how are your life changing 'Resolutions' going?

Pros news

A quick scroll through any Social Media feed and you quickly realise that 'stop documenting every and any inane soaked drivel or occurrence on Facebook and actually just live my life' is not one of the highest ranking New Year`s Resolutions.. Mores the pity.

Instead we get to see every salad, Gym Workout, non-alcoholic drink whilst in a Bar or Restaurant and shopping basket full of fruit as proof that, indeed, this person has immediately transformed themselves into Captain America but now feels the need to be Mr Motivator! Marvellous. My life is so much more fulfilled now.

I honestly had hoped that it was just predictive text override or a genuine typo and in fact many people were actually going to give up wine. But when it clearly was referring to the alcoholic grape that was just a proverbial kick to the Sauvignon Blanc or Blancs.

But get this, thanks to the beauty of language, plus the addition of a video function you can access directly from your Facebook, we can now all live the live life of someone live living life. (I'll give you a few seconds to read that again and make sure you've used the correct pronunciation where appropriate...have you read what I already asked you to read?)

It gets really confusing sometimes seeing two things that look virtually identical but are very different as a result of how they are used. But the most impressive thing is...we all know how to pronounce these similar words when used in different contexts. I bet many of you read or were able to read (see you've done it again already!) the few lines in the paragraph above and used the correct pronunciation in the correct context instinctively as your eyes scanned the sentence. The main reason for that...we were educated to do so by trained experts at school so we can now subconsciously enjoy the results.

So today's lesson is - 'When you see two things that look similar the only way you'll truly understand the aspects that make them different, and how YOU can use them effectively, is to get educated by a trained expert.'

Product spotlight

...oh. Look, I just so happen to have a couple of great examples right here, in store now.

Last week I showcased the new TaylorMade M1 & M2 Ranges. This week we took delivery of the Pre-Sale Fitting Pack for the much talked about Callaway EPIC Range. A Club that Rory McIlroy has CHOSEN to put in his bag based purely on performance. Click here to see why.

Like the M Series the EPIC has two versions which look similar but are essentially different. (You see where I'm going with this now?)

If the look of the Clubhead is the appearance of the word then the aspirations/or ability of the golfer is the pronunciation. That makes the adjustability and technologies in the Clubs design the context it can, and should, be used in. Understand the meaning of the word and you'll be able to use it much more confidently and efficiently...aka, get the best Club expertly fitted to your swing and you'll get much better results.

In the case of the M1 & EPIC Drivers we are entering the realms of 'There, They're and Their'. Incredibly similar but a little different.

On both there is lots of Carbon used in the construction of the head allowing for significant weight saving and therefore weight redistribution. They both have independent launch (loft) and shot shape (moveable weights) adjustability. The main 'story' behind the magic that EPIC is offering is in their 'Jailbreak' Face Technology. The research engineers at Callaway concluded that at impact the shape of the surrounding frame of the clubface got distorted at the moment of impact, which they felt created a fractional loss of ball speed.

To counter this their designers came up with 'Jailbreak' which saw them introduce two lightweight titanium struts (See Image) which hold the frame in place and allow the Face to flex more efficiently. Think of it like four people trying to hold a rectangular blanket tight by grabbing a corner each, then dropping a bowling ball into the centre of it, add four more people (two at each side of the blanket) to hold the long sides. Now with eight people keeping that blanket tight there is much less chance of it being pulled out of shape and much more likelihood that the bowling ball will spring back up higher and faster than before.

Where the M1 & EPIC differ slightly, and where EPIC differs from itself, is when it comes to ball spin adjustability.

The M1 counters that aspect of the Clubs performance in another moveable weight track. Whereas in the EPIC if the ball spin characteristics were needing to be adjusted (Specifically lowered) then they have a subtly different model called the SUB-ZERO.

All about as confusing as 'place, people, and possession' isn't it?

But that's where I come in!

In order to choose the best Club for you it's important, vital even, that you find out the data for all the aspects that influence where the ball goes and how it gets their...they're...darn it, THERE!

To attain that info you need a comprehensive Fitting Session using an accurate Launch Monitor. Fortunately for all you guys and gals you have that facility, service and experience 'write hear' on your doorstep. And it's FREE .

So why don't you write here (I knew I'd get it right eventually!) and book your Fitting Appointment - Click Here

With the arrival of all these new Clubs this New Year I've seen lots of independent reviews being carried out. Which in many ways is good, however in most cases they are being carried out by extremely good players - anything from Tour Players to respected Coaches and Club Reviewers, ,and let`s be honest these guys hit the ball well and will hit most Clubs pretty good.

However, the Club Manufacturers, and the likes of myself, are trying to emphasise the benefits that these Clubs, and their technologies will have in the hands of Handicap Golfers of varying ability. Especially those who are looking for help and improvement off the Tee.

So that brings me nicely to the first of my innovations for 2017.

I'm looking for golfers covering the whole Handicap spectrum to make up my own Review Team.

These 'Brand Ambassadors' would provide Testimony and Opinion on the Performance of the equipment from the Companies I promote.

PING, Callaway, TaylorMade, Wilson & Titleist.

These Brands all have equipment ranges that feature Clubs for every level of golfer. So again I'll reiterate that I'm looking for any handicap level.

Here is what the program entails:

  • A comprehensive Custom Fit for every Area in the bag (Driver, F/Ways, Irons, Wedges, Putter & Ball) which will be documented and showcased in the Newsletter over various weeks.
  • Personal Review/Testimonial of each of the above equipment areas.
  • To endorse and promote the Brand you represent along with our Custom Fitting process.

The fortunate few would be expected to purchase and play the full bag of equipment so this is perhaps only attractive to people who were intending investing in their equipment this year. So my contribution and a large carrot to dangle to sweeten this investment would be a whopping 20% Saving .

Plus you'll get a £5 Commission Credit for any single Club referral and a £10 Commission Credit for any multi Club referral*

(*Commission is credited to Shop Account - multi Club referral equals Iron Sets, two or more Woods & Wedges)

If this is something you'd like to be considered for - Click Here

Please bear in mind:

  • Places are obviously limited and not guaranteed.
  • Any ability will be considered.
  • Your current equipment can be traded as part payment for the new equipment.
  • You will be required to provide testimony.
  • You will be photographed and videoed during the process.

Winter league

We managed to chalk off another of the Winter League weeks without incident. It was much more 'Wintery' due to the Frost Greens being in action.

Click here to view the standings following Week 6.

The time on the Frost Greens was short lived thankfully, as again the weather really has been kind to us. Although the forecast for this weekend looks ominous.

However that didn`t stop Neil and his Team from…wait for it…cutting Fairways and Greens. Unbelievable for January really.
