At the time of reading, I will have worked my 39th straight day here at Duddingston GC so perhaps you can forgive me for the odd bought of eccentricity, mindless ramble or random loss or concentra.......oh look, a Wine Gum.......wonder when I dropped that!? |
Yes, the days @ Duddy have been racking up fast! If I`d been a Football Coach in Spain I would have been in the running for Real Madrid`s longest serving Manager this Season, if I was slightly more famous I might have won ‘I`m A Celebrity’ and as a direct result I would`ve probably constituted as one of Katie Price`s longest Relationships! However, the reality is the only Jordan`s I`ve been getting to spoon with lately is my morning bowl of Granola!! I did make a little ‘Me Time’ last Friday evening to go to the Cinema to watch the latest Blockbuster release ‘Captain Marvel’! I`ll be honest, I was a little disappointed to find that it WASN`T the documentary about Brian Robson that I was expecting!!

What has been getting all my attention lately is Project: Pro Shop, as myself, James & Stuart have been busy beavering away at all the deliveries, etc. to try and get the Shop looking as good as we possibly can for you. |
We`ve made some excellent progress with the Stock that has arrived and there will be more developments in the coming days and weeks too. We really hope, and are confident that, we can provide you with a Professional Shop that you can be extremely proud of and one that will be the best in the area. And what better way to kick things off than with some exciting ‘Added Value’ Promotions!? Right now In Store you can take advantage of our ‘GOLF BAG TRADE IN’ Promotion – Save £20 OFF selected Motocaddy & TaylorMade Golf Bags.
|
|
Also launching this week (Although this is an Electronic ‘Online’ Offer and not In Store) is the popular Titleist ‘4 For 3’ Golf Ball Deal – Click Here. We have also taken delivery of more Clothing Ranges, with the first Collection from this year`s Galvin Green Part 1 and other ranges hitting the shelves. I would call these our ‘Bookend’ Collections with Galvin offering amazing technical benefits and great quality at the Top End, while we have some other clothing which provides a fresh and fantastic value option which sees all Shirts selling at ONLY £20, with matching Gilets and Zip Tops from ONLY £30!
|
Our Clothing Collection will be complete when Under Armour arrives. We will also soon be launching our ‘SHOE TRADE IN’ Promotion for anyone looking to ‘get their Season off on the right foot’ which will allow you to SAVE £20 on Selected FootJoy & Under Armour Shoe Styles. The Models that will be available on this Offer included the FJ Contour FIT and FJ UltraFIT which we can ensure you will get the correct Size & Width courtesy of our FREE In Store ‘Shoe Measuring’ Service.
|
|
The Under Armour Spieth 2 Shoe is also in the Promotion. |
Another thing ‘Still to come’ is the completion of the Indoor Simulator. The final pieces of that Jigsaw are now the construction of the Screen & Frame along with the installation of the Hitting Area and the flooring.
This was put on hold as we had so much, ahem, ‘Stuff’ (Deliveries, Equipment and Packaging) that we needed to use the room so for that the work had to be pushed back. We are hopeful that will be completed very soon. But we have moved on with what we could.

Getting to where we`ve gotten to has been helped in a huge way by the generosity of a significant number of Members, who I will be acknowledging properly when the time comes. As we are close to completion the Crowd Funding Initiative for the Top 2 Options will now be coming to a close, however there is still a fantastic opportunity to get involved with a ‘No Lose’ Investment! For ONLY £50 you could not only be in with a chance to win any one of over £2500 worth of Prizes, including the Top Prizes of Custom Fitted PING, Callaway & TaylorMade Drivers in my SW:ING STUDIO Prize Draw, but you will automatically receive a Session in the new Indoor Simulator! To get involved, simply – Click Here and register your interest. This is available to Non-Members too so if you have Friends or Family that you think might want to invest then please pass on this Newsletter/Link. You could make someone very happy!

Someone who DID just get new Clubs AND was extremely happy was Francesco Molinari! Well, when I say ‘extremely happy’ I meant as animated as Frankie gets!! He of course had an amazing victory at Bay Hill in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he stormed through the field with a closing 64. These come from nowhere final rounds seem to becoming a trend on the various Tours these days. But I`m sure Molinari got a little more for receiving his cheque from the API than he would`ve done for winning his claim for miss sold PPI!! Almost as ill-advised as Payment Protection was the American TV Analysers comment that “Molinari`s had some big moments in his career, but none as big as this!” Eh, I`m pretty sure his Carnoustie Claret Jug, his National Open title and going 5 for 5 en-route to winning the Ryder Cup mean that getting to put Arnie`s commemorative ‘Cardi’ on doesn`t even make it into the Top 3!! One thing that definitely was a ‘Big Deal’ was the fact that Francesco tasted victory only a matter of days after announcing he`d signed an Equipment Contract with Callaway to play their new forged Apex Irons and Epic Flash Woods. His win with new equipment goes a long way to dispelling that myth that Tour Players games can be affected when they switch to a new manufacturer or different equipment! If anything it backs up my philosophy that if the equipment is Fitted correctly and appropriately for the Player then it will only help enhance their performance. Something I`m confident myself and my new Fitting & Performance Studio can provide. Over on the European Tour it was a similar, burst from the pack ending to the Qatar Masters which saw South African, Justin Harding, shoot a 6 Under Par Final round and post a -13 Total that none of the Leaders, including overnight Leader Oliver Wilson, could match.

We crowned a Champion of our own here at Duddingston last weekend when Chris McQueenie came out on top of the pile in the Champion Of Champions Stableford on Sunday. His 39 Points was good enough by 2 to sneak past Sandra Richardson. |

Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things |
I thought this would therefore be a good opportunity to encourage you all to get back in to some good habits. Now whilst I’m definitely going to recommend that having a good routine will undoubtedly help your consistency on the Golf Course, I`m wanting you to refresh your memories with regards your routine OFF the Golf Course, and before you even step on the Golf Course. As you all know I`m still very new here, and whilst I`m doing my best to try and learn as many Faces-to-Names, it would be great if you could all get back (or just into) the habit of Checking In for ANY Round by popping your head into the Professional Shop before you Tee Off. After all, revenue is important to the Club and I`m sure given the investment you make in your Subscriptions you would want people skipping on the course for nothing? So if everyone checks into the Shop prior to play then it makes challenging anyone who makes a beeline for the 1st Tee easier. Then there is refreshing yourself regarding the Competition Check-In and Score Entering process. All Competitions require you to Register in the Pro Shop, pay the mandatory £1 Entry and collect your scorecard. There is, of course, the Optional Sweep & Magic 2`s Competitions which are £1 each.
|
Post Round, again, it is important to remember to enter your Score into the Competition Computer located in the Foyer and post your Scorecard in the Box. Even if you`ve had a bad day, NR or early bath, please take that little bit of time to adhere to the above as it means collection and collating the Results becomes a lot smoother a process. |

While we are trying to get more people on the Golf Course, our merry band of Greenkeepers are busy getting the Golf Course in tip top condition as they work against the vargaries of the weather.
This week amongst other things John and the Team were slitting Tees and fairways for the second time this winter. The Aeroquick machine is proving to be a great investment by the Golf Club. |

Motocaddy has always been at the forefront of trolley innovation, with the world's first GPS electric trolley amongst their ranks. Well, this year they’ve made some significant upgrades to the immensly popular S1 model, which we think you're going to love. |
| New Motocaddy S1 electric trolley (2019) |
|
We don't like using the term 'entry level' to describe the new S1 as it offers so much more than what this suggests. At first glance, you'll take a liking to its modernised styling and graphics, which will really help make it stand out from other trolleys on the market. Then you get to its technology: new and improved sunlight-friendly LCD display, nine speed settings, advanced battery meter so you needn't worry about it running out mid-round without knowing, and a super-lightweight Lithium battery to name but a few. The new S1 for 2019 is as good as it gets at this price point, so pop in-store to take a look and get one in your hands. |
