In the same weekend that Rory pocketed a cool $15 Million he freely admitted that he was more interested in finishing the tournament with the lowest score of the actual shots hit than the handicapped outcome that the FedEx Playoff Points had created going into the final Tour Championship event. But that said, how important was this End of Season Sweepstake to all these multi-millionaires really? I can guarantee that Messrs McIlroy, Thomas, Koepka and especially Casey, Schauffele & Finau would trade all of the money that was up for grabs last weekend for more Major honours. When it comes to showing real emotion, passion and just exactly how much this game means to these players it takes something like the Ryder Cup for most of them to show it. And they don`t get a penny for their efforts. Perhaps it`s because they are no longer just competing for themselves, and instead, doing it for their Teammates and the fans from their Nations too!? Much like the Cricket scenes from the recent Ashes Series – their equivalent of The Ryder Cup between England & Australia. Now I`m not a follower of the Willow Whackers (yip, you have to say that one slowly!) but from what I`ve seen, read & heard about the latest Ashes Test is that England produced probably the best performance the match has ever seen to keep this current series alive. The jubilation that gave those Players showed how much that event means to them. And again they get no financial reward for doing it. It’s purely for pride......oh, and the World’s smallest trophy! The origin of the Trophy dates back to when the Lilliput Eleven took on the Borrowers!
