Like waiting on a woman getting ready for a night out, where it seems like they take forever and not get very far, then just when it looks like you`ve given up all hope of being remotely on time a frenzy breaks out and ‘ta-da’ they appear resplendent, looking fabulous, take your breath away and all is forgiven! In much the same way the climax to the Solheim Cup was nothing short of immense! But boy did some of the 3-Day extravaganza drag! With the world watching all eyes were on events at Gleneagles as it became the first venue to ever host both the men`s Ryder Cup and the women`s Solheim Cup. Having proved in 2014 to be a fantastic host it once again showcased how good a Set-Up (both on and off course) that it is for these style events, potentially ‘the’ perfect resort for spectacles such as these!? And if the setting was like something out the Movies, then so was the climax to the match! If in fact the organisers of the Solheim knew exactly the way the outcome of the Cup was going to be decided then it was a Marketing Masterstroke to come up with their slogan – because Suzanne Petterson, a slightly controversial Wildcard Pick given her lack of competitive golf & injury battles, playing in (what turned out to be) her last ever competitive event, wrestling to find any sort of form was faced with the last putt on the last match (left on the course) with the outcome in the balance! Hole it = We Win! Miss it = They keep the Cup! Ladies & Gentlemen – ‘It All Leads To This Moment!’ (Queue Leona Lewis key change!)
....the rest, as they say, is history!
