Saturday highlighted in the cruellest possible way the importance of remembering ‘The Players Responsibilities’ for a Club Strokeplay Competition. As the ones tasked with collating and processing the Results of all the Club Competitions we have seen on many occasions people tripping up on a few small but important requirements when Posting their Scores. Most of the time it doesn`t have any significant impact on the result, but on Saturday the Trophy winner didn`t actually have the best score of the day, but unfortunately the player who did have the Lowest score also forgot to Sign their Scorecard. Some of the other things that we also have to wrestle with are when players don`t enter their score into the Computer or Return their card at all. Another element of Players responsibility that flagged up again on Saturday was ‘Pace Of Play’ – Now we are not going to single Players or Groups out publicly, but there were very obvious, noticeable and sizeable gaps between Groups during the Competition which lead to the Round times for everyone thereafter being longer than they should be – which leads to lots of people not enjoying their game. Be mindful of everyone else`s enjoyment and try and keep your position on the Course (Directly behind the group in front, and not just that you are in front of the group behind!)
