Improving Your Game But keeping back on the ‘Using Technology To Improve Things’ theme I just wanted to follow up on the section I did last week regarding our Custom Fitting Service & Process. It sparked a few conversations so I just wanted to expand further on not only what we do or the ways we do it, but how and why we use the Technology we do. One of the conversations started with a Member who had recently been Custom Fitted at a Fitting Event held by one of the leading Club Manufacturers, and he was talking about the process they used to determine his Lie Angle. Despite this Company having invested tens of thousands of pounds in ‘TrackMan’ Launch Monitors their Custom Fitters still have to establish Lie Angle using a Plastic Strike Board and Impact Tape that they apply to the Sole of your Club. To me, that is almost the same as having a Top of the Range Launch Monitor but sellotaping a Paper Windmill to the Shaft and seeing how fast you can make it turn to determine the players Clubhead Speed or Shaft Flex!!? The Importance of the Lie Angle is threefold in my opinion, in this order: • Controlling the Start Direction and Flight Shape of your Shot • Encouraging as Centred Strike as possible. • Creating an ideal Turf/Ground interaction. So to MEASURE this as accurately as possible for the actual golf shots you want to hit there is no point hitting from a plastic board that sits approximately ¼” above the ground. Using our High Speed 4 Camera Foresight GCQuad Launch Monitor we can capture the exact strike location and delivered Lie Angle of your Club when hitting ANY Golf Shot – Driver, Iron, Full Wedge, Short Pitch, Chip & even Putt! Here are some examples of the detail and information we can capture that help us make a much more accurate and measured recommendation.
