So with every Politician comfortable being ‘conservative’ with the truth, ‘liberal’ with other people`s lives & income, and ‘laboured’ in everything Brexit, it`s good to know that we can always count on the Royal Family to do the right thing!.....WOAH, wait!!!....... |
And here was me thinking that Prince Andrew was the straight-laced one, but it turns out he likes nibbling on an American Hot just as much as the next guy! It also looks like he had a 2-4-1 Voucher too....he must use Compare The Market as well!?
But perhaps trying to use Pizza Express as an alibi when you`re part of the Monarchy is the hardest part to swallow for the general public! And let`s be honest, the Prince`s TV appearance to try and clear his name only really helped fan the flames even further! In fact, it probably turned up the heat more than this week`s other ‘accused’,....poor little Excitable Edgar! Awwww!
Yes, the disa-Star Dragon of this year`s John Lewis Christmas Advert has also come in for a lot of public scrutiny, with the normally adored Advert coming in for criticism from people for ‘upsetting their children’! Oh deary me!
But to be fair, if kids can’t grasp that ‘if you set fire to stuff you will get punished’ as a concept and get upset as a consequence then maybe that`s more a reflection of the parenting than the advert if you ask me!
With all these dastardly Dragons and devious Prince`s, you could say the UK has had its very own episode of Game Of Thrones!
|
And it`s very much a Game Of Thrones this week on Tour as well. The Race To Dubai comes to a climax in this week`s DP World Tour Final in Dubai with a handful of Players vying for the crown and throne of ‘Europe`s Leading Golfer’.
One man who caught fire just in time (and little Excitable Edgar had nothing to do with this combustion!) was the Tours answer to Jon Snow, Tommy Fleetwood. England`s loveable Merseysider has been one of the stars of European golf for these last 3 or 4 Seasons now, but unbelievably he hadn`t won a Tour event in 22 Months! And, on current form, didn`t look like changing that anytime soon. However, in Sun City he shone brighter than everyone else, especially in the final round where he fired a best record-breaking 65 – It wasn`t record-breaking because it was the lowest score ever, but more for the fact that no one in European Tour history has ever made 3 Eagles in a final round en route to winning the event. Although that 7 Under Par was the best of the day score Tommy still had to see off Sweden`s Marcus Kinhult in a Playoff.
Another player who had a terrific showing (again) in South Africa was Bob MacIntyre – His T8 finish also nudged himself back into Pole Position in the Rookie of The Year tussle.
Heading into the Dubai that will be decided and so too will be a shootout for the No:1 position. Tommy is definitely the form player but there a 5 others in the hunt for Top Spot in the RTD Rankings. Bernd Wiesberger is the man they are trying to catch, and tucked in behind Tommy are the trio of Jon Rahm, Open Champ Shane Lowry and Matts Fitzpatrick. It`d be some feat if Master Fleetwood can string back-to-back wins together right at the end of the Season.
|
It was a remarkable Back-To-Back winning streak on the PGA Tour last weekend too. You may remember the story about Brendon Todd overcoming the Golfing Yips to win a PGA Tour Event!? Well has he managed to do it again!? Yip!! Brendon showed that winning is as much a habit as anything else when he scooped the weather-delayed Mayakoba Classic – Let`s hope he doesn`t ‘Yip’ his Caddy Payment like Matt Kuchar did last year!?

With the various world Golf Tours chasing the sun all year, Jon Snow lookalikes might be the closest they come to enduring Winter Weather! Back here in Scotland, we are not so lucky and have had to settle for an appearance from Jack Frost! This week alone we have seen Temperatures plummet, windscreens needed to be scraped and many of our Senior fraternity unearth copious and various amounts of ‘foosty’ woollen undergarments! So not only do they look like onions they…well, I`ll just leave it there!
The other ‘Golfing’ killer at this time of year is daylight with many of you not able to play during the short days and then perhaps restricted by the weekend weather.
But remember, you have the perfect facility right here at your Golf Club to allow you to get your ‘Golfing Fix’, still meet up with your buddies & comrades, and more importantly, swing in the comfort of summer clothes and summer conditions.
|
And what`s even better is you never lose a ball, never have to replace a divot, repair a pitchmark or ever get held up by a slow group in front! What`s not to like. Plus you can Bacon Rolls & Beer at your Fingertips!

Always Learning, Always Improving |
Like the 125 Anniversary Collection, I am always looking to grow (well, not around the waist or gills if I can help it!) and on Wednesday I attended the annual Foremost Conference Roadshow – which I was also proud to say was hosted right here at Duddingston GC. |
We had 25 like-minded Golf Professionals from facilities all over Scotland gathered along with representatives from Foremost Golf. There we learned about improvements and developments in the services that they help us provide to you – so I`m looking forward to bringing those to you in the new year.
But it was also a great Think Tank/Brainstorming session where we all shared great ideas that have worked for other Professionals at other Clubs. |

Is it still too early to talk about it? |
We might be five weeks away from the big day itself, but it won’t be long before radio stations start playing Jingle Bells and this year’s John Lewis ad captures the nation’s attention. When it comes to Christmas shopping, we have a fantastic selection of stocking fillers available in the pro shop and even more ready to be purchased on our Click and Collect website. |
From headcovers to sweaters and even the old traditional gift of socks, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for through us. You might even spot something you want adding to your list of gifts this year! |
So, why not take some of the stress out of the chaotic high street shopping by doing yours with us? If you order by 2pm on Friday 20th December, we can guarantee it’ll be delivered to us in time for you to pick up before Christmas. |
