I was really hoping to start this Year with a Pun that didn`t sound like I`d ripped off a cricket reference but I`m afraid 20:20 has got me stumped!
But at least the Chinese Calendar had it spot on! 2019 was a Pig of a Year in many ways!
And by all accounts so far they`ve called 2020 right too! The Year of the Rat! But he`s not called Roland......this one is called Donald!

Sure, we all quite like an unexpected visit from time to time, with our guest bringing a wee gift. But normally your ‘First Foot’ brings shortbread or a lump of coal.....not a Drone Missile Strike!
James Bond is back for the 25th time trying to save the world from total annihilation in April, let's hope by then it`s not too late!? Because, as that title suggests, this is ‘No Time To Die!’ If you`ve ever wondered where these Screenwriters get their imagination and inspiration for the sometimes (& seemingly) unbelievable storylines then you need to look no further than the power-hungry and reckless crusade that the ‘Commander In Chief’ is on at the moment. He is certainly one CIC Individual!
There are only two things that I have seen on the TV since the turn of the year that has shocked and saddened me more than Trumps actions, and that is the devastation of the Bush Fires that have ripped across Australia.....and the utter tripe that ITV are Mask-erading as ‘Entertainment’ in the form of The Masked Singer. And they wonder why the public have stopped tuning in to Terrestrial Channels in favour of the various Streaming Services that are available now.
Although Amazon now seem to have gobbled up all the ‘fitba’ now too! There was a time when I thought Amazon Prime was a Transformer and the Leader of the Autobots! But to be fair though there was also a time when I thought a Transformer was just cartoon or a toy about something that looked like one thing, but underneath they were actually something else......but even that has become Reality TV!

Fortunately this year, not much has changed in the World of Golf. With perhaps the exception of the World Handicapping System coming into effect later this year 2020 begins with no real shake-up to the Rules to wrap our heads around again. Similarly, it seems Patrick Reed will still be as universally disliked as Trump in 2020 as he was in 2019! Following his Runner-Up at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he was beaten in a Playoff by Justin Thomas, a former PGA Tour Player, Ex-Ryder Cupper and fellow American went to the lengths of describing him as a, ahem, male appendage of the Richard variety, following a less than gracious and fairly arrogant post-round interview.
Funny, I really don`t remember a time when the President of the USA and Captain America were so disliked by their own people!?
The European Tour resumes its schedule this week down in Johannesburg for the South African Open. This is an event where if you get an Invite to play you have to be very careful of the criteria, because if someone phones you to offer the chance of ‘4 Rands in the Sunshine’ (you need to do the accent) you could end up with £2.12 and no golf!

I certainly can`t guarantee you Golf in the Sunshine (or the warmth) outside on the hallowed turf of Duddingston GC right now, although I`d say the weather & temperature over the Festive Period was quite pleasant actually.
However, I can most definitely guarantee you the ideal playing environment at Duddingston GC in the shape of our wonderful Indoor SW:ING Studio Golf Simulator. We had several Groups (and Individuals) taking advantage of this facility lately and all have thoroughly enjoyed (and benefited) from the experience.
Because here`s the beauty of it:
• It`s always dry!
• It`s always the ideal temperature!
• It`s never windy! (Although we can Simulate these conditions if you really wanted/need to)
• It`s never too dark – For all you workers who get home after dusk, you can still get a swing in.
• It`s quick (Or as long as you want it to take – One Group Booked for an Hour and stayed for 3!!)
• It`s accurate – You`ll learn so much about your game (and Technique if required)
• It`s fun!
• You never lose a Ball!
• You don`t have to industrial blast your, Clubs, Shoes or Trollies to clean them afterwards.
