'Do we stay in?, Can we go out? We've no idea at all what Boris was on about! So we do the UK-COVI while we're still above the ground! So frustrating that you want to shout! Ohhhhhhh no I'm getting croaky, oh I hope it's not the COVI!? BoJo is a bumbling dopey! 'Stay home, but go out!?' ARRRRGH, ARRRRGH, ARRRGH!!!!he read. |
I think it's fair to say that Boris would be hopeless at the Hokey-Cokey as it's pretty obvious his left-hand doesn't know what his right is doing! - Although let's be honest it's clear he always favours the right!!! Given the ambiguity of the Govs new Guidelines, instead of their new Slogan "STAY ALERT" they should just use "In / Out, In / Out & Spread It All About!" Whilst I know it is frustrating, especially now that England have taken the Green Light to return to Golf, but in many respects, it's been reassuring that Scotland and our First Minister has been consistent and crystal clear on the message to the Public. This, for now, hasn't wavered either as the Healthy & Safety of everyone is clearly the priority. That said I'm sure we aren't far away from entering a more relaxed phase of Lockdown/Restrictions which will hopefully offer the opportunity to a return to golf of some form!? |
| Safety Signage | As a result, DGC has been working away in the background to formulate how best we can present and police that version of Golf - whilst obviously awaiting the directives & recommendations coming from Golfs Governing Bodies (R&A, Scottish Golf, PGA & BIGGA) The Club will circulate an Official detailed Document ASAP but here is the crux of whatever those details are: - They are 100% for the Safest golfing environment for both YOU & the STAFF
- They will be LIMITED
- They can't accommodate EVERYONE
- They probably will cause FRUSTRATION
- They MUST be obeyed & respected or risk losing the opportunity
- They COULD change if they are found not to be working effectively
So things to definitely prepare for: - Reduce Playing opportunities & Group sizes
- Only Social Golf initially
- Strict ON-COURSE Safety requirements
- Limited OFF-COURSE Facilities
- Regimented Arrival & Departure requests
I hope you'll agree that right now ANYTHING is better than NOTHING!? What is imperative is that we all commit to doing the right thing by everyone else. That compliance, not just by DGC but Golfers throughout the Nation, will determine how quickly things can return to somewhere close to what we had and would like again. |

| Shop Safety Signage | As I mentioned last week, we will also be taking radical steps to ensure that 'Safe Environment' is delivered in the Professional Shop too. So just to reiterate: - A Service Pod Area will be in action within the Shop
- ONLY 1 Person in at a time
- Minimum 2M queuing outside Shop
- Sanitiser will be provided and compulsory
- Card/Contactless or Shop Credit Payments preferable
- Personal Shopper access by request (Rear Entrance Access)
- Single Player SW:ING Studio access
But just a reminder that if you require anything for your return to golf then we are absolutely here to deliver that. I mentioned Re-Gripping last week for those who perhaps have had the Clubs in cold storage for the entire winter until now. But whether it be simply replenishing the essentials (Balls, Tees, a new Glove or Hat) or maybe it's time to put your best foot forward in a fresh pair of Shoes or some new Golf Attire then we have everything available In-Store right now. Plus the Manufacturers are also back so we can help 'SOURCE & SUPPLY' absolutely anything you need. Click here if you'd like me to put something aside ready for the off. A dozen balls, new glove etc. etc Hopefully, these weekly communications (as well as my regular Social Media posts if you follow me there too? - If not you can check out the pages below) have shown that throughout this whole Lockdown the Professional Shop hasn't forgotten about you, so hopefully now as we come out of it you won't have forgotten about us? Facebook: @DuddingstonGolfClubProShop https://www.facebook.com/DuddingstonGolfClubProShop Twitter: @stuartwilsonpro https://twitter.com/stuartwilsonpro We all need to support one another to get through this, and myself and my Business/Livelihood really needs that support now more than ever. This is my Club and always do what's best to support you my Members. And I'd like to think you would like to do the same back safe in the knowledge you are going to get the best value and personal care. |

Making Duddingston GC (and the Professional Services) the best version of itself and as successful as it potentially could be is an important part of my motivation. And whilst this enforced Lockdown hasn't been ideal for lots of reasons it has taken the foot off the pedal at a time where some seriously good (and overdue) work could be done to help raise the standards & profile of the facility again. |
| 3rd Green | John G and his small Team have been doing an amazing job of nurturing the Playing Areas of the Course and it really is looking in fantastic condition just now. |
| 7th Thru To 6th | So to complement that great work I've been continuing to help out where I can on the areas and detail that these guys just simply don't have the time/manpower to get to. |
|
| Enter Into Elysium | We were able to 'Titivate' some important areas on what I call 'The Golfers Journey' which for me starts as soon as you turn into the Driveway. |
| Signs Of Improvement | So the Signs at the Entrance and Driveway have been washed, some of the Paint work touched up and the Crash Barrier scrubbed. |
|
| Hopefully We’re Over The Hump Now | We used the Trump method of Disinfectant to try and flatten the curve on this Sign! |
| What A Load Of Bollards | The Clubhouse Lights & Bollards got a touch up. |
|
| Watch Your Speed |
| Watch Your Exhaust |
|
| She’s Taking Shape | Painting & Wood-staining continued on all the Bridges & Stairs. . |
| 10th Bench | Whilst the Benches & Astro-Paths all got a long overdue blast. |
|
This week we have a brilliant quiz for you to indulge yourself in. 'Guess Who' Quiz We will give you three short statements, which you will need to use to work out who the golfer is. It's multiple-choice so if you can't work it out then you can at least have a guess! From now on, we'll be doing these quizzes in our first newsletter of every month so be sure to keep an eye out!
