Stuart Wilson - Head PGA Professional
Stuart was born on 25th February 1976 in Kirkcaldy, Fife in February 1976 and grew up in the nearby town of Glenrothes. Although Stuart's family all played golf he didn`t take to the game until the age of 12, and after two summers playing he got his first handicap of 28. That wasn`t to last long and in 3 seasons he reduced his handicap to 3. At the age of 17 and with his handicap low enough Stuart decided that rather than following a career in design would prefer to take a job as an Assistant in the Pro Shop at Kirkcaldy Golf Club with the view to turning Pro. 4 Years at Kirkcaldy were followed by 6 years at Ladybank Golf Club, an open qualifiying course near St. Andrews. It was there that Stuart, under the tutelage of Martin Gray, blossomed as a coach and developed a solid reputation. That reputation helped open the door to his next move, a teaching position at The Gleneagles Hotel where in his 4 years there he became Head of Instruction. Although coaching was a major part of his career his desire was always to become a successful Club Professional which took him to The Eastwood Golf Club. After a number of successful years Stuart's new chapter has begun at Portlethen Golf Club. Stuart says; “Golf is a game for everyone and a game for life! Whether it`s the challenge of learning and improving, the exercise and escape, or the attraction of new technology and fashions, golf gives so much pleasure in many different guises. If you are part of golf enjoy every moment of it, if you are an outsider wondering what all the fuss is about I encourage you to give it a crack……you will love it for whatever reason!”
